Michael Jackson vs Alien ant Farm – Smooth Criminal

In 1988 Michael Jackson released “Smooth Criminal”. A wonderful example of how Michael changed pop music. He allways found out new styles, new sounds, new roads in pop music. He’s particular dance performing make this song one of the most significant Michael trademark. The synth bass sounds like a percussion and it stay in rythm with Michael voice. But in 2001 a rock band did something incredible. Alien ant Farm convert those percussive synth bass in a distorted powerful electric guitar. That’s what it cames out

Don Henley vs Ataris – Boys of Summer

Four years before of Smooth Criminal, Don Henley released “Boys of Summer”. Mr. Henley, the famous Eagles drummer, produced a pop sound for a melancholy song talking about the end of summer. It tooks 19 years to lissen to a totaly revonutional cover by Ataris. This band whose fortune didn’t get so far, found a great interpretation. The power of guitars and the more powerful voice of Kris Roe, turned a pop song in a Classic Rock hit. Lissening to the Ataris version looks like it was the original, and not a cover. The arrangement is simple but “effective”. That’s what it cames out from Ataris guitar.

Well… i think is enough for today. Those was only some somple of Rock covers better then original (in my opinion of course). Maybe we will write about other kind of covers. Not necessary in rock version. Sometimes acoustic covers works very well like this acoustic guitar track of When we were young, the Adele song. But anyway…
